Welcome!
My name is Justin Prahar, and I'm the owner/operator of Sounds To Go. I'd love to speak with you and learn more about your ideas, and your plans for your wedding day! Once I know more about you, we'll look at how we can work together to plan your wedding day, and how I can help you bring your vision to life.
Together we can brainstorm and come up with fun, creative ideas for your wedding. Once we're done, I'll help you, your friends, and your family have the best time you possibly can while YOU relax and enjoy your wedding celebration!
No Surprises.
When you work with Sounds To Go, you work with me every step of the way. You'll call me, e-mail me, and meet with me to plan your event, and I'm here for you during the entire process.
No impersonal office staff, no subcontractors, no "mystery DJ" showing up at your event. No surprises!
I realize that you'll be entrusting me to represent you to your closest family & friends, and to help you all have an unforgettable time. I don't take this trust, or your decision lightly. Since I hope we'll be working together closely, I'd like to tell you a bit about myself, and my journey.
My Story
I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, and my passion for music started at a young age, and pretty much began with my father's record collection. Everyone says it, but my musical tastes really are all over the place, and this gives me a great knack for musical programming, and for helping my clients set different moods for every part of their event. I love the challenge of finding just the right musical selections to fill and enhance each and every moment. Getting high-level direction from my clients, and filling in with just the right music to match their personality & tastes is one of the things I love the most about DJing.
When I was 13, I started playing guitar. Who DIDN'T want to be Eddie Van Halen in 1987, right? I know... I just dated myself BIG TIME!
Though I had been listening to music pretty intently for a while before that, I was pretty much all-consumed with music from that point on. While other kids were playing sports, hanging out, going out, and getting into trouble, I was in my room playing my guitar. Sometimes practicing meticulously, sometimes noodling randomly for hours on end, but always having fun! I still enjoy playing guitar & bass whenever I can. My experience as a musician exposed me to the performing and recording aspects of music, live sound equipment, and all sorts of cool and nerdy toys.
Fast forward several years. In 2002, I relocated to Roseville, California with my new family. In 2004, I started Sounds To Go DJ service, The rest, as they say, is history!

Spicy food: I LOVE spicy food! I love spicy food challenges. I can eat spicier food than you. Or anyone you know. Seriously. You have no idea! I eat the hottest fresh peppers on the planet... Naga Jolokia (Ghost Pepper), Trinidad Scorpion, Carolina Reaper. I tried growing my own ghost pepper plant, but it died. They're hard to grow here. I have tons of hot sauces and extracts... Something spicy for any dish, and every occasion!
-
Pets: I'm a cat person, but love all animals. We have four cats, four parakeets, two aquariums, two Guinea pigs, and two hermit crabs. I try to blame all the pets on my daughter, who wants to be a vet, but I'd have the fish, birds, and cats if it was just me anyway. Did you know cat people are smarter than dog people? Hey, I saw it on Facebook, so it has to be true, right? Just kidding! Dogs are fun too. Here's proof we can all just get along.
-
Favorite reads: I read miscellaneous philosophy, comparative religion, and as much layman-friendly theoretical physics as I can handle. I have subscriptions to Scientific American, Popular Science, and National Geographic magazines. I'm not smart, I just like to pretend. I don't like to read fiction. Ain't nobody got time for that!
-
Star Trek & Star Wars: Yes, I like them both, but I've always loved Star Trek more. Star Trek is science-fiction, Star Wars is science fantasy. Believe it or not, there IS a difference, and I love debating the nuances of this distinction whenever I get the chance. Got Nerd? BRING IT!
-
Things I like to do: Play my bass, hike & go on day-trips, and workout.
-
Confession: I'm a Facebook junkie, but suck on all other social media.
-
Collections: Aside from my instruments, I collect coffee table books on rock & roll history, it's culture and art, my favorite artists, the history of guitars, etc. I read them cover-to-cover, but I really buy them for the pictures.
-
Least favorite things: Sports, Shopping Malls, Cars, Politics.
-
A recent accomplishment: In 2016, I decided to make a real life change. With the help of weight loss surgery, changing my diet & lifestyle, and now doing CrossFit five - six days a week. I lost over 150 pounds, and I've kept it off since 2017! I love being transparent about my life, lessons learned, and what's going on. Want to know more about my fitness journey? Just ask!

One of my favorite things: That you're taking the time to read all this! :)
About Sounds To Go
Almost out of nowhere in 2004, I decide to try my hand at being a DJ. "Come on... I can do THAT!" I said. It did seem like a perfect fit after all. I had the extensive musical background & knowledge, and experience with all the equipment involved, so why not?
That was the beginning of Sounds To Go!
Fast forward again, and here we are today! Since starting my business, hundreds of memorable weddings and other special celebrations later, I have learned that there's so much more to being an entertainer than "just playing music," and "being a DJ" is really only a part of what I do. As much as I love the power of music and the effect it can have on people, the enjoyment I get out of simply playing music and playing with my (very cool) toys has grown to include something else... namely, the great satisfaction I find in helping to facilitate awesome events! I love helping my clients create a celebration that is uniquely theirs.
And finally...
I hope you enjoy my site! I have tried to give you more helpful, useful & relevant information than most DJ websites do. It's important to me that you understand how I work with you to make your day incredible, and it's also important to me that you get an idea of what you should expect from any DJ service you hire. I understand you're making a big decision, and let's face it... you're making a serious investment in entertainment for your wedding. My services aren't cheap. Not in price, or in value. I respect the decision you are making, so I want you to have as much information as possible to help you make the most informed choice you can when it comes to entertainment for your event. I hope you will find my site helpful in selecting your DJ entertainment, and in planning your wedding as well.
Well, that's about it for me... Now I want to hear about YOU! I do hope you'll contact me so we can work together to realize your vision for your special occasion.
Thank you for reading, and for considering my services.
